The basis of Functional What is Functional Chiropractic?

Human movement is a complex and highly coordinated symphony of muscle contractions, all controlled by the central nervous system to create joint actions for specific tasks—whether that’s something simple like picking up a pencil or as dynamic as skiing the moguls.

The human body is designed for efficiency, with each joint forming the foundation of movement. Each of these joints plays a primary role in movement, categorized as either stability- or mobility-based:

Mobility joints (ankle, hip, thoracic spine, shoulder, wrist) are designed to move freely in multiple directions.

Stability joints (foot, knee, lumbar spine, cervical spine, elbow) provide structural support and control.

Ideally, these joints function in an alternating pattern of stability and mobility, creating a strong yet fluid kinetic chain for movement. However, life happens—injuries, repetitive strain, muscle imbalances, and postural habits can disrupt this natural sequence. When that happens, stability joints may become overly mobile, while mobility joints can stiffen and lose their range of motion. This imbalance leads to compensations, inefficiency, and a higher risk of pain and injury.

Functional Chiropractic is about restoring that balance. We assess movement, identify dysfunctions, and apply evidence-based treatments to correct these imbalances—helping you move better, feel stronger, and reduce the risk of injury. Instead of just chasing pain, we focus on the root cause of dysfunction, using a combination of hands-on techniques, functional rehab, and movement retraining to get you back to doing what you love.
