Ascent Health & Performance is a locally owned, family-run chiropractic clinic in Anchorage, AK, founded by Drs. Tyler and Laura Wright. We specialize in sports chiropractic, soft tissue therapy, and personalized rehab — all designed to get you out of pain and back to the activities you love.
Our approach goes beyond quick fixes. Each session combines hands-on care with movement-based rehab to help you rebuild strength, mobility, and tissue resilience. Whether you're dealing with nagging low back pain, recovering from an injury, or just want to move better, we meet you where you are — and help you keep climbing.
Active Release Techniques (ART) is a highly effective soft tissue treatment used to break up scar tissue, reduce muscle tension, and restore normal movement patterns. By targeting muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and nerves, ART helps relieve chronic pain, improve mobility, and support faster recovery. At Ascent Health & Performance in Anchorage, we use ART alongside chiropractic adjustments to treat sports injuries, overuse syndromes, and postural strain at the source.
At Ascent Health & Performance, we use the Diversified chiropractic technique, guided by training through the Motion Palpation Institute, to deliver precise, personalized adjustments. This evidence-based approach emphasizes joint motion assessment and functional movement analysis, ensuring each adjustment is tailored to your unique biomechanics—not a one-size-fits-all treatment. The result? Greater effectiveness, better outcomes, and care that’s built around your body’s needs.

Chiropractic care focuses on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues, particularly those involving the spine, joints, muscles and nervous system. It includes hands-on adjustments, manual therapy, soft tissue techniques, and rehabilitation exercises to restore movement, reduce pain, and improve function.
No. While spinal adjustments are a core part of chiropractic care, we also treat shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, elbows, wrists, and other joints. Our approach includes soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation exercises, and mobility work to improve overall movement patterns.
Chiropractic care is a safe, evidence-based approach to improving musculoskeletal health, but like any healthcare intervention, it carries some inherent risks. While most patients experience relief and improved function, potential risks include temporary soreness, stiffness, or mild discomfort after treatment. In rare cases, adverse effects such as muscle strain, joint irritation, or dizziness may occur.
Serious complications are extremely rare but may include exacerbation of pre-existing conditions, rib fractures in osteoporotic patients, or, in exceedingly rare cases, vascular incidents related to neck adjustments. At Ascent Health & Performance, we take a thorough, evidence-based approach to minimize risks, ensuring treatments are tailored to your individual needs.
Before beginning care, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation to assess your health history, identify any contraindications, and discuss the best course of treatment for your condition. If you have concerns about specific risks, we encourage open communication so we can make the best decisions for your health and safety.
We treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:
Your first visit includes:
✔ A thorough assessment of your movement, posture, and pain points
✔ A discussion of your health history and goals
✔ A combination of manual therapy, adjustments, and rehab exercises based on your specific condition
✔ A treatment plan designed to help you recover and stay pain-free
In most cases, yes—if it’s safe and makes sense based on your evaluation. But sometimes, soft tissue work, rehab exercises, or mobility drills are a better starting point before jumping into an adjustment. And for some people, adjustments just aren’t their thing—and that’s totally fine.
We see adjustments as one tool in a much bigger toolbox. Sometimes, it’s the right tool for the job; other times, something else will get better results. Our job is to have enough tools at our disposal to get you moving and feeling better—whether that includes an adjustment or not.
No, adjustments should not be painful. You may feel pressure or hear a popping sound, but most people experience immediate relief and improved movement. If you're nervous about adjustments, we offer gentler techniques to ensure your comfort.
This depends on your condition and goals. Acute injuries may resolve in just a few visits, while chronic issues require progressive care and strengthening to prevent recurrence. We always aim to get you better as quickly as possible and provide rehab exercises to maintain progress.
No single treatment plan is exactly the same as the rest. Your physiology, the duration and severity of the injury, diet, exercise, sleep and genetics all take part in recovery. Our treatment plans are usually between 3 and 12 visits spread out with 2-3 visits per week max.
Initial exam & treatment: 40-50 minutes
Standard treatment sessions: 20-40 minutes
Maintenance & performance visits: 10 minutes
That’s completely fine! We use a variety of manual therapy techniques, modalities, mobility drills, and rehab exercises to get results. We’ll work with you to find the best approach for your body and comfort level. Adjusting is just one tool in a comprehensive tool box. In other words, it's not a fix-all - we refuse to continually pound a square peg into a round hole. Even if you dislike adjustments, we have other tools that we will use to get you feeling better.
We offer both insurance-based and cash-pay options. Some insurance plans cover chiropractic care, while others do not. Our team can help you determine your coverage and discuss affordable options for care.
Insurance typically covers Active Care but does not cover Maintenance Care, as it is considered non-medically necessary. We offer affordable options for those who want to continue care beyond pain relief.
Absolutely! Many of our patients come in for preventative care and performance optimization. Chiropractic treatment helps maintain mobility, correct imbalances, and improve movement efficiency—so you can stay ahead of injuries instead of reacting to them.
